Yes, it’s holiday gift-giving time again, and what better gift for your boys than books! By giving books as holiday presents (or any time of the year) you encourage your boys to read … and once they become good readers, well, the whole world – and all its wonders – is open to them.
“Remember what Bilbo used to say: ‘It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.’” – Excerpt from, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien.
“The truth was that Arnold took pleasure in anything dangerous and seemed forever hopeful that something more dangerous would soon appear.” – Excerpt from Rabble in Arms by Kenneth Roberts.
Yes, “adventure” and “danger” are often key elements in stories boys like to read – or have read to them. I know because that was true for our family, and this website is dedicated to expanding on our experience to identify great books for boys everywhere. But a great story is still a great story, whether it involves outdoor adventure, humor, sci-fi, sports, or mystery. So, you’ll find books – as well as E-books and audiobooks – listed by topic as well as suggested age range on this site.

(NOTE: If you’ve never used a Kindle, check out: Kindle Wireless Reading Device. I think you’ll be impressed. I was. Maybe kids would spend a little less time texting and a bit more time reading with an E-reader, like a Kindle – or with audiobooks!)
Together we can get boys to read and build a reading adventure library for boys everywhere.
Good reading,
